Online Therapy in
California

Parents and caregivers: you’re overwhelmed, exhausted, burnt out, and downright busy. Counseling has been suggested to you before, but finding the time doesn’t feel possible. Maybe you live in Pasadena, CA, or the San Francisco Bay Area, and just don’t have the time or the transportation to sit in rush-hour traffic. Maybe you can’t find childcare to cover you during a therapy window. Perhaps you don’t have enough time during work breaks to travel to and from a therapy office. Or maybe you live in a more rural area of California where you don’t have individualized therapy support for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and nonbinary parents. Honestly, with everything going on, many individuals prefer to get the support they need from the comfort and space of their own home.

Online therapy in California is a safe place where all your identities and ethnicities will be accepted and you’ll get the healing support you are looking for. online therapy Provides easier access to the right support

One of the top issues that people of color and those with different identities face is not being able to find a provider in whom they can see themselves. Often what happens is, individuals are forced to settle for a less culturally competent clinician who ends up harming the client’s perception of mental health services. We are here to provide you with a safe, culturally competent space in which you can face whatever you’re dealing with. For people of color and those with different identities, this really matters. It should not take months to find the right therapist for you. You deserve reasonable, effective, accessible care just like everyone else.

it takes less time out of your busy schedule

Let’s face it, you’re already incredibly busy with being a parent, caregiver, and human. If you’re sitting in slow traffic to and from therapy, you’re losing time that you could spend with your loved ones or taking care of your well-being. This is unfortunately the case for many in the California area. Online therapy strives to provide you with a readily available therapeutic space in an effective manner. Simply log on in the comfort of your own space, and let’s chat.

Online Therapy for BIPOC Clients

Couple on laptop. If you are seeking support, an online therapist in California can help. A pasadena therapist offers postpartum support, birth trauma therapy, and more. Begin online therapy in California.

The truth is that many BIPOC individuals do not feel safe speaking to healthcare professionals, and historically they’ve had good reason. Systemic oppression and racial injustice remain persistent, damaging elements of our country’s social and legal framework. It’s a scary world out there, especially when you are bringing a new life into the world. It’s hard to feel safe and secure when you’re worried about the well-being of your family. We get it, that’s why online therapy offers a culturally competent environment for you to work with a BIPOC therapist in the safety and comfort of your own space. We know the world may feel unsafe, but we hold a safe space for you in therapy.

Online Postpartum Support

Parents and caregivers need support after birth and through the transition back home. The challenges of the postpartum period are common and normal, but they can take a toll on your ability to connect with your child, your partner, and yourself. Getting support matters, whether it’s in person or online. We can help you with postpartum anxiety, depression, OCD, and rage. Let’s begin helping you cope and heal together.

Couples Therapy for New Parents

People do not always understand how different life can be after a child joins the family. There are now additional relationship dynamics to juggle. If you and your partner are struggling to connect or feel that you can’t agree on how to move forward, therapy is the perfect place to process those conflicts and feelings. Whether in a couples session or individual therapy, we can help!

Is Teletherapy in California Effective?

Whole Mother Therapy, along with many other therapy practices, has made the switch from in-person-only services to online therapy to provide easier access to more people. We use a person-centered, parent-centered therapy approach here. Our clients have had great outcomes in strengthening relationships, adjusting to changes, and navigating the physical, emotional, and hormonal changes that come with pregnancy. Recent research shows that telehealth has proven to be just as effective as in-person therapy services. Additionally, online therapy can be even more effective than in-person sessions. If you’re unsure whether this is the right service for you, reach out and let’s discuss it! In a free consultation with one of our therapists, we can explore whether telehealth could be a good fit for you, and if not we can give you referrals to other practitioners.

What Do You Need to Know About Online Therapy in California?

Even though you can experience online therapy from the comfort of your own space, know that our sessions can only take place when you’re in the state of California. If you take a trip outside the state and have a session scheduled with us, we will need to reschedule for when you return. This is because the state licensing board requires that clients of licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs), licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs), licensed professional clinical counselors (LPCCs), and other mental health care workers must be in the state where the practitioner is licensed when sessions are conducted. Essentially, when we are licensed in the state of California, we can only offer services to our clients when they are physically in California at the time of the services.

Let’s talk.

We would love to connect with you.
